Love for All

Valentines Day

The ever popular calendar day is fast approaching―Valentines Day―and stores are selling flowers, candies, chocolate and adorable stuffed animals surrounded by cupids and pinks, reds and whites.

I am okay with couples sharing this somewhat mushy day in all the ways they want and enjoy it. Parents even share in the day with their kids. But let’s face it, there are many who dread this day―singles, widows, widowers, divorced and those in unhappy relationships.

Valentine1As a single parent I have learned to embrace this day. I won’t allow it to make me bitter, angry or resentful. Some may question how I manage through this seemingly romantic and mushy day. It is easy. First, I am where I am by choice and second and most important, I have a man in my life.

This man is in many people’s lives and desires to be part of many more. Male or female we have a Valentine who lives within us and desires to be part of everyone’s life. This Valentine:

  • came to earth as a babe born in a stable
  • grew up and walked among men
  • taught and preached God’s word
  • loved the unloveable and loveable alike
  • willingly gave up His life for me as He did all mankind. That is unconditional and endless love

So this February 14th embrace the day, share it with your loved ones, kids and friends, but don’t forget to invite Jesus Christ to the date. That kind of love will never be filled by any one person here on earth. Never forget that Christ was the first Valentine gift given to us all.

God gave us His son as an act of love for each and every one of us. Happy Heart Day one and all.
